European Markets for Image-Guided Surgery Products
Report #A574 -
February 2010
377 Pages - 147 Exhibits - 13 Company Profiles

Image-guided surgery (IGS) refers to any surgical procedure involving the intraoperative use of a representation of patient anatomy obtained via imaging techniques or computerized methods. These representations are used for real-time visualization of targeted tissues and structures, as well as physical alteration with surgical tools and instruments. In 2008, the European IGS products market totaled approximately $1.0 billion; of this, interventional imaging systems (including interventional/ surgical X-ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound systems) accounted for an estimated 85% of sales, with surgical navigation systems accounting for the remaining 15% of sales. Over the forecast period covered by this report, total sales of IGS products in Europe are expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 4.9%, reaching nearly $1.3 billion in the year 2013.

This new 377-page report by Medtech Insight analyzes major market segments for IGS products, including interventional imaging systems (e.g., CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and X-ray imaging systems) and surgical navigation systems (e.g., augmented reality, robotic surgery, and virtual reality systems). Major topics covered by this report include detailed discussions of the products, markets, and companies associated with IGS, a discussion of the clinical applications of IGS, and profiles of the leading companies competing in the European IGS products market.
