   Early-
Stage Medical Technology Companies"


This two-day event highlighted emerging technologies being developed by 48 small, mostly privately-held medical technology companies seeking partnering and/or investment.
The meeting drew an attendance of over 265 senior executives from the investment community and major medical technology, biopharmaceutical, biotech, and other companies.


The forum provided focused overviews by a senior executive from each company, followed by the opportunity to meet one-on-one in private breakout rooms.

Bioplex Corporation -- nanocrystal-encoded microbeads for human health applications, including drug discovery, drug development, and clinical diagnostics

Biosensor Systems Design, Inc. -- biosensor for the rapid detection of anthrax spores, E-coli O 157, and influenza

BioStent, Inc. -- bioabsorbable stents for cardiovascular indications

Biowave Corporation -- noninvasive electronic pain control

BTG International, Ltd. -- Venox, a noninvasive oximetry device which monitors oxygen saturation within the veins

Cambridge Scientific, Inc. -- biopolymer-based orthopedic technologies applicable to fracture fixation, spinal fusion, and bone graft substitutes

CardioFocus, Inc. -- photonics-based cardiovascular devices

CeMines, Inc. -- early detection and treatment of breast, gi, lung, and prostate cancer through precision molecular fingerprinting

CerBio Tech AB -- chemically bonded bioceramics for injectable biocements for osteoporosis and a new coating technology for biocompatible surfaces

CryoCor, Inc. -- cryoablation system to treat atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias

CryoVascular Systems, Inc. -- catheter system to prevent post-
angioplasty/stent placement coronary artery restenosis

Elcare Innovations, Inc. -- CPR assist device

ElectroGene, Inc. -- electrical stimulation of cartilage to stop the progress of arthritis

Emergency Medical Technology, Inc. -- noninvasive device for the treatment of congestive heart failure

Expressive Constructs, Inc. (ECI) Biotech -- gene expression and bacterial detection technologies for point-of-care diagnostic and therapeutic applications

Genomic Profiling Systems, Inc. -- rapid microbial analysis technologies

HeartSTAT, Inc. -- practical blood flow and perfusion monitoring for preventive care and cardiovascular disease management

InSound Medical, Inc. -- minimally invasive and extended wear hearing devices

Integrated Medical Systems, Inc. -- LSTAT, portable intensive care unit in a 5" thick patient-care platform

Intellison, Inc. -- artificial intelligence for medical imagery

IntraLuminal Therapeutics, Inc. -- technology for chronic total occlusions

LifeWave, Ltd. -- ulcer wound closure, blood flow enhancement, wound electrical diagnostics

N-Dia, Inc. -- noninvasive detection of premature rupture of fetal membrane

NovaMin Technology Company -- technology that supplements teeth remineralization

Physiometrix, Inc. -- depth of consciousness monitor which enables clinicians to assess brain state changes responding to drug dose titration

Phytis Medical Devices GmbH -- coated medical devices for minimizing problems associated with minimally invasive vascular surgery

Predictive Technology, Inc. -- technology to predict respiratory and cardiac diseases

Remon Medical Technologies, Ltd. -- devices to monitor the hemodynamic status of CHF patients and the pressure within AAAs following an endograft procedure

RenalTech International, LLC -- BetaSorb device to treat chronic kidney disease patients in combination with high-flux hemodialysis

Sleep Solutions, Inc. -- sound analysis technology applied to in-home patient monitoring systems for sleep-disordered breathing

Sontra Medical Corporation -- platform technology that applies ultrasound to make the skin permeable for transcutaneous drug delivery and diagnosis

Spectrasonics, Inc. -- high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy and tissue parameter imaging

SpectRx Noninvasive -- noninvasive cervical cancer detection device

Spine Solutions, Inc. -- mechanical prosthetic solutions for the lumbar and cervical spine

TheraNova, LLC -- Electromagnetic Induction Therapy (EMIT) aimed at treating osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal pain

TransScan Medical, Inc. -- noninvasive breast cancer detection technology

TransVascular, Inc. -- "cath lab bypass"/myocardial agent delivery

Velocimed, Inc. -- PROXIS, embolic protection system

Verimetra, Inc. -- MEMS technologies for biomedical and minimally invasive devices
